REE diagram and "spidergram" template for Excel
Description
Excel template to plot normalized trace element (including rare-earth element) abundances. The user can quickly switch between normalizations. Requires trace element data (of rocks or minerals). To minimize clutter the input is limited to 20 samples.
August 11, 2022: major changes on the data input sheet; correction of an error in the display of the standard REE diagram
May 10, 2023:
– changes to the REE plots: If you have INAA data that usually lack Pr and Gd, hypothetical values for these elements can be interpolated between La and Nd, respectively between Sm and Tb to help recognize Ce and/or Eu anomalies;
– changes to the spider diagram that plots normalized concentrations as a function of ionic radii: missing elements in a dataset will no longer cause Excel to construct unwanted connecting lines between different groups of elements, for example HFSE and REE
February 15, 2024:
much simplified technique for deleting elements from plots in file "Spider_etc_2024-02.xltx"
March 1, 2024:
I uploaded a new file named "Spidergram_constructor" that can be accessed under
https://zenodo.org/records/10732762
You may use it to construct spider diagrams for 1 to 40 elements and up to 20 samples and arrange the elements in any you like. Much more flexible than spidergram construction in this Spider_etc upload.
