Odesi Metadata Best Practices Guide 2023

The Odesi Metadata Best Practices Guide (v. 4.0.1) (BPG) contains detailed guidance and best practices for curating metadata in the Odesi repository. These best practices are informed by library and archival practices and by the FAIR Guiding Principles for Data Management and Stewardship. 

The BPG v. 4.0.1 version introduces minor changes to v. 4.0, which was updated in October 2023 to reflect major changes to the Odesi platform since Odesi's back-end migration from Nesstar to Borealis, the Canadian Dataverse Repository. The new BPG updates and supersedes the Odesi Best Practices Document v. 3.1 (February 2019). The BPG also borrows largely from the Dataverse North Metadata Best Practices Guide v. 3.0 (November 2021). The updated contents are intended to support both novice and experienced users creating metadata for Odesi data collections with the new Dataverse interface.
