Aree interne ed eco-musei. Una proposta di valorizzazione della Valle Siciliana attraverso la creazione di un ecomuseo digitale | Inland areas and eco-museums. A proposal for the enhancement of the Valle Siciliana through the creation of a digital ecomuseum

Description

Inland areas refer to regions or territories that are far from the urban centers or that are characterized by low density population. These areas often face many issues which include: geographic isolation, lack of services, unemployment, lack of economic opportunities and especially lack of protection practices and territory development. The latter aspect – which should engage first the community – often fails and the population that lives in those spaces is not enough sensitized to the heritage that surrounds them. Such contribution aims to inquire on the several opportunities of development of the internal areas, through creation of ecomuseums and the use of the digital, addressing their problems and promoting a sustainable growth and tourism. We propose as case study the doctoral research of the writer on promotion of the historical and artistical heritage of the Valle Siciliana, at the foot of the Gran Sasso in Abruzzo, through the concept of ecomuseum, active community and the usage of digital atlases.
