Condition Monitoring of Switchgear Panel
Authors/Creators
Description
Switchgear plays a vital role in power systems and industries by detecting faults and isolating faulty areas to increase safety. In Industry 4.0, condition monitoring is crucial to increase equipment reliability. The purpose of this paper is to present a system that continuously monitors the condition of a circuit breaker (CB) in its location. CBs can experience various issues such as control circuit problems, auxiliary coil failures, and other mechanical failures. Maintaining CBs involves regular checks, which takes time, manpower, and money. Moreover, the breaker is taken out for maintenance, requiring an extra spare breaker and increasing overall maintenance costs. To determine the switchgear's condition, various parameters are obtained from sensors and relays. RTU can be used to further process the data.
