This publication summarizes the state of the art of healthy and pathological aging from a neuropsychological point of view, as a result of the systematic review of the literature carried out in the framework of the doctoral thesis that I was developing in those years as a PDI in training with FPU contract of the Ministry of Education. It is the fifth chapter of the book Vejez, Dependencia y Salud, coordinated by Dr. Javier Castañeda.
