Climate Adapted Seed Tool (CAST): An Evidence-Based Tool to Improve Reforestation Outcomes
Description
USFS and CAL FIRE use the Climate-Adapted Seed Tool (CAST) to inform climate-adapted seed selection. CAST uses data from tens of thousands of trees planted in provenance tests across western North America to inform seed transfer. We are working to incorporate data from 368,000 trees planted in provenance tests across western North America into CAST. Forward thinking scientists began establishing these experiments in 1910 and scientists are still working to establish new experiments.
