1a. Foliage leaves 3 (sometimes the lowermost lost by flowering time), the stem without a scale-like leaf in the upper half; filaments equal... G. similis

1b. Foliage leaves 2, upper one sheathing lower half of stem and with short free blade; stem bearing a short, membranous, scale-like leaf in the upper half; filaments unequal, one ± 1 mm shorter than the other two:

2a. Plants 120—350 mm high; tepals elliptic, 7—9 mm long; filaments 2—4 mm long; anthers white.. G. scillaris

2b. Plants 300—450 mm high; tepals narrowly elliptic, 12—14 mm long; filaments 8—9 mm long; anthers purple... G. mellimontana
