Hacia un Arte de la Emoción

La triada arte-ciencia-tecnología tiene una larga trayectoria histórica. Así lo demuestran ejemplos conocidos como los dibujos genéricos de máquinas de Villard de Honnecourt en el s. XIII, o los más famosos aún de las máquinas de Leonardo da Vinci. En relación con la idea de colaboración artística, el músico y compositor Richard Wagner acuñó, hacia la segunda mitad del s. XIX, el término Gesamtkunstwerk, que puede traducirse como `Obra de arte total'; quería así plantear un novedoso modelo de ópera en el que pudiera hacerse realidad la síntesis de todas las artes. Por otro lado, en relación con las nuevas tecnologías, el informático y arquitecto Nicholas Negroponte fundó en 1967 junto a Leon Groisser el MIT's Architecture Machine Group y posteriormente el MIT Media Lab (1985). Este último está dedicado a proyectos de investigación en los que convergen la idea de diseño, internet y tecnología. En la misma línea, el Net-Art aboga por la hipertextualidad y sobre todo la interactividad en la red, mediante la utilización sistemática del soporte digital y con innumerables posibilidades, muchas de las cuales están aún por explorar. Se trata, en definitiva, de un nuevo paradigma que viene a poner en cuestión el concepto de arte.

The art-science-technology triad has a long historical history. This is demonstrated by well-known examples such as Villard de Honnecourt's generic drawings of machines in the thirteenth century, or the even more famous ones of Leonardo da Vinci's machines. In relation to the idea of artistic collaboration, the musician and composer Richard Wagner coined, towards the second half of the nineteenth century, the term Gesamtkunstwerk, which can be translated as 'Total work of art'; In this way, he wanted to propose a new model of opera in which the synthesis of all the arts could become a reality. On the other hand, in relation to new technologies, the computer scientist and architect Nicholas Negroponte founded MIT's Architecture Machine Group in 1967 and later the MIT Media Lab (1985) together with Leon Groisser. The latter is dedicated to research projects in which the idea of design, internet and technology converge. In the same vein, Net-Art advocates hypertextuality and above all interactivity on the web, through the systematic use of digital support and with countless possibilities, many of which are still to be explored. It is, in short, a new paradigm that calls into question the concept of art.
