Type locality: Hindostan [India]. Ceylon [Sri Lanka]. Nepal
Distribution. Indian records: Bombay (Swinhoe 1885), throughout India (Hampson 1896b), Calcutta (Sevastopulo 1935), Kerala (Mathew & Menon 1984), India (Robinson et al. 1994), Pench, Kanha, Satpura, Madhav, van vihar, Bandhavgarh (Ramakrishna et al. 2006), throughout India including Madhya Pradesh (Seoni, Umaria) (Chandra & Nema 2008), Indore (Chandra et al. 2010), Tamil Nadu (Das et al. 2020a), Thar Desert (Chandra et al. 2021). Global records: Nepaul (Walker 1859a), Ceylon, Burma (Hampson 1896b), Ceylon, Burma, China (Caradja 1925), Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, W. Malaysia, Philippines, lowland to montane (800 m) (Robinson et al. 1994).
