Human societies development leads to the evolution of the national security concept for its classic definition which turns around the military action, to move to multidimensional concept-based definition with different characteristics. Ben Gurion, Israels former Prime Minister, is always highlighted in all studies of the Israels national security doctrine fundamental founding concepts, emphasizing his role in shaping this doctrine, as he was also Israels Defence Minister at the time of its creation in 1948. This article will look at the concept of national security conceived by Ben-Gurion, starting with work focusing on the military aspects in the first instance, the nature of the military response in all the conflicts threatening Israel from its Arab neighbors, and finally highlighting the civil perspective underlying all the measures taken to contain the threats.
