Description
Anthomyia cana Walker, 1849: 929. Holotype male, “New Holland” (= Australia), in BMNH (seen).
Lispe cana; Pont, 1989: 693; Shinonaga et al., 1991: 332.
Diagnosis. Body covered with a silvery-grey pollen; frons strongly silvery in male and golden in female, postpedicel very short; vibrissa vestigial in male; arista short, enlarged at base; palpus very broad at apex, spoon-shaped and with silver/golden pollen; 3 pairs of postsutural dorsocentrals, sometimes with an extra short seta in female between 1st and 2nd dorsocentrals; legs silvery-grey, femoro-tibial joints and tarsi reddish-brown; male with hind tarsomere 1 enlarged; abdomen strongly silvery with no brown marks or with a median spot and two round lateral spots on tergite 5 when viewed from above; tergite 5 with 4 pairs of lateral discal setae and 6–7 pairs of apicals.

Comments. First recorded from Hienghène by Shinonaga et al. (1991). The species was keyed and redescribed by Malloch (1923b).
Distribution. Australia (NSW), Indonesia (Maluku), Lord Howe I., New Caledonia (New Caledonia, Isle of Pines), PNG (PNG), Rennell I., Solomon Is, Western Samoa.
