Type species. Hudsonimyia karelena Roback, 1979.

Emended diagnosis

Based on specimens from southeastern Brazil, the generic description of Hudsonimyia to male and pupa (Fittkau and Murray 1986; Murray and Fittkau 1989) must be emended to include the following characters: male – frontal temporal setae uniserial or multiserial frontally, antepronotum with one to three lateral setae; pupa – thoracic horn with basal lobe present or absent, abdominal segment VII with two to three taeniae.
