Description

This citizen science experiment pairs highly specialized information seeking (in ancient Greek, Latin, and Syriac sources) with digital book production. It exists at the intersection of interdisciplinary expertise in ancient religions and languages, modern data science, and scientific communication. Focused on the reconstruction of the earliest textual sources in the development of Christianity, sources that that may seem lost, our team aims to retrieve, reconstruct, and validate them with scientific, reproducible methods. It builds on the first ever peer-reviewed, normalized datasets of Marcion's scriptures curated by Mark G. Bilby. In this specific work, Mark is leading an international effort to compile and openly annotate and translate all of the relevant ancient textual attestations on which the scholarly reconstructions are based.

The global public is invited to join us in our quest to find all possible patristic attestations to Marcion's Apostolos.
