Description
Conference poster for Fluoros 2023 in Idstein, Germany presenting the transport behaviour of PFAS and immobilization approaches with regenerated waste products in large scale unsaturated lysimeters.
Abstract:
In total 10 Lysimeter were set up at SLU in Sweden to look into the transport behaviour of PFAS in the unsaturated zone with changing climate and to test the efficiency of novel, carbon sequestering biochars for PFAS stabilization. The main conclusions were, that PFAS contaminated hot spots are vulnarable to a changing rainfall and irrigation events. Furthermore sludge derived biochar showed promising results in lowering leachate of PFAS from contaminated soil and can be a more sustainable solution for soil remediation than PAC.
