- The present Scalidophora Workshop was the sixth of its kind, and took place through August 15 to 19, 2022, in Germany at the small North Sea island Helgoland. It was organised by Andreas Schmidt-Rhaesa (Zoological Museum, Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change, Hamburg, Germany), with student help from Lenke T¨odter, Fanny Sieler, and Jan Raeker. Funding for the workshop was generously provided by the Verein der Freunde und F¨orderer des Zoologischen Museums Hamburg (Friends and Promoters of Hamburg Zoological Museum) and Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (The German Research Foundation, DFG).
- The output of the workshop includes sixteen original papers that were communicated during the workshop and published in the present special issue of Zoologischer Anzeiger. The editors would like to thank everyone who contributed to the special issue, as well as all workshop participants, student helpers, the staff of the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, Helgoland, and the funding agencies. The VII International Scalidophora Workshop will be arranged by Hiroshi Yamasaki, Kyushu University, Japan, and is scheduled to take place in the summer of 2024.
