Brownie Camera - Six-20 Model D.
Description
Ionad Oidhreachta Leitir Mealláin (Heritage Centre)
A lot of interest was shown in cultural and heritage exhibitions held in recent years of the private collection of the local historian John Bhaba Jeaic Ó Confhaola. As a result the committee decided to find a permanent centre to exhibit the rich heritage of the area.
The Brownie was a long-running popular series of simple and inexpensive cameras made by Eastman Kodak.
The first production of this camera, from 1946 until 1953 was available with a plain matte enamel faceplate, a metal or plastic winding knob and a metal or plastic shutter release button.
From 1953-57 the camera changed to a horizontally striped design faceplate, plastic winding knob, and a plastic shutter release button. In additon, 2-pin flash contacts and a triangular spring back catch were added.
There is no admission charge, but a donation is welcome
