Wmid-1660bb 2020t140 - Silver locket
Description
An incomplete silver locket pendant, of Post medieval dating (17th century AD).
The pendant is oval in plan and rectangular in section, made of three components, two sheets of silver cut in an oval shape, soldered onto the lengths of a rectangular sheet of silver that acts as the siding of the pendant. A ridge is present in the middle of the rectangular sheet. A circular suspension loop is present at the top of the pendant. An attachment scar is present at the base.
One face depicts a crucification scene. This involves Christ on a cross, with the letters INRI above his head. Either flames or leaves are present at the base of the cross.
The other face depicts the letters IHS, with a latin cross above. The cross bar and the top upright have a bar across, forming a crosslet. Beneath the letters, are three arrows, pointing upwards.
