Description
Hemisciera maculipennis (de Laporte, 1832)
Cicada maculipennis de Laporte 1832: 412 (French Guiana and Brazil).
Cicada versicolor Brullé 1835 (in Audouin & Brullé): Plate v, Fig. 1.
Cicada sumptuosa Blanchard 1840: 165.
Fidicina floslofia Walker 1858b: 15 (Ega, Brazil).
Distribution. The species has been reported from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, French Guiana, Panama, and Peru (Metcalf 1963a; Sanborn 2011 a, 2013 c, 2018b, 2019 a, 2020 a, c, 2023; Sanborn & Heath 2014; Nunes et al. 2023).
Material examined. “ FRENCH GUIANA / STM Mont Saint Marcel de la / Haute-Camopi, (Inselberg), / N 2°23’03.00” O 53°00’37.00”, altitude / 635m, Commune de Camopi, 23-IX-2014 / Automatic Luminating trap / Soc. Ent. Antilles-Guyane leg.” one female (AFSC).
