Atherinella jiloaensis (Bussing 1979). Jiloá Guatemala Silverside, Peppered Silverside; Pejerrey de Jiloá, Sardina

Vouchers: UCR 0185-005 (13) and 0596-001 (97); other collections: LACM 37350-1 (1), 37350-2 (18), UMMZ 201962 (6) and 218374 (6). Distribution: Central America; endemic to the Lago Xiloá, Nicaragua; (Nicaragua) LN (Atlantic); 40–45 masl; Per, Dia, Amp. Occurrence and conservation status: Nat, End; CR B1ab(iii) (2009), population trend decreasing. Literature: Bussing (1979: 406; original description) and Villa (1982: 139, as Melaniris jiloaensis —synonym; detailed description, including illustrations and an identification key, and information on distribution and ecology).
