Type localities. (P. s.) Lagos, Nigeria; (S. s.) Monrovia, Liberia.
Distribution. Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Benin, Niger, Nigeria, Tchad (Beier 1968; Gillon & Roy 1968; Kirby 1904; Prost & Roy 1986; Ragge & Roy 1967; Rehn 1949; Roy 1964b, 1971b, 1975, 1977, 1978; Roy & Leston 1975).

Remarks. An ecologically generalist stick mantis inhabiting all kinds of habitats from forests to Sudan savannas.
