Description

Foxiprionyx Danilov, subgen. nov.

Group of foxi of Bohart & Menke 1963.

Type species. Prionyx foxi Bohart et Menke, 1963, present designation.

Etymology. The subgeneric name consists of two parts: Foxi - from the species name and - prionyx, from the generic name.

Diagnosis. Claws with five ventral teeth, male antenna without placoids, free margin of female clypeus entire, and metapleuron definitely channeled. The subgenus closely resembles the nominative subgenus Prionyx but clearly differs from the latter in having the claws with five ventral teeth (three or four teeth in the Prionyx)

Distribution. Western North America.
