Description

The chancel arch at Tuam is a rare example of a well preserved romanesque chancel in Ireland. The fine detalil on the carving shows damange from an early fire, and weathering from when the chancel became the front of the L. medieal church up to the 1800s. The feature was later incorpated into the alter of the COI built on the site. This project is funded by The Community Monuments Fund Awarded by The National Monuments Service, Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. Supported by Old Tuam Society, Galway County Council, TheHeritage Council and Galway Community Archaeology Project. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
