Description

This rock was Rock no.2 of Richard Bradley's excavations at Cloanlawers from 2007-2010. The ScRAP team uncovered this again last week for possibly only the second time. The markings are on a large schist oucrop, which lies at the 400 metre contour on a SE facing slope overlooking Loch Tay. The outcrop is shaped like a large sofa, with the most intricate carvings on the inside of the 'right arm and on the adjacent basin below at the left hand side and to the front of the 'seat'. These consist of a number of cup and multiple ring markings - some with circular rings, others with interconnected rings. Visible on the model are two striking cup marks surrounded by a figure-of-eight created by their rings. Another cup and multiple ring mark with a radial is prominent and the more you look, the more you see. Grid Ref.
