Entrepreneurship of SMEs in Morocco: Current Situation and Analysis
Description
In Morocco, according to the latest report from the Moroccan Observatory of SMEs published in 2021, SMEs represent almost 97% of the Moroccan productive fabric, operating in diversified sectors. They contribute to about 38% of the national wealth creation and generate approximately 74% of the jobs. However, in the context of trade liberalization, competition has become increasingly intense in the domestic market, impacting competitiveness, overall performance, and jeopardizing the survival of Moroccan SMEs. In this regard, it is necessary for SMEs to adopt an entrepreneurial orientation that will help maintain their competitive position and organizational performance. This document presents the results of an analysis of theoretical and empirical studies on the concept of SMEs, their economic and social role, the main challenges they face, and the support programs for Moroccan SME entrepreneurship.
