Pharmaceutical Services in Family Health Support Team: the Brazilian Experience

The aim of this work is to describethe proposal of Ministry of Health of Brazil to strength-en the primary health care (PHC) and to present some results obtained from interdisciplinary activities held by the Family Health Support Team (NASF) pharmacists, according to theoretical references and observed reality. Seven pharmacists were followed up during their daily routine. The pharmacists' working process is still under construction, but in general, they are according to the proposal. The key points to highlight are: pharmacist's education for the interdisciplinary work in the PHC; health teams' expectations regarding the pharmaceutical services; population's expectations of the population concerning the health services; structure arrangement of pharmaceutical services in PHC; construction of interdisciplinary work in the PHC; interactions with the community. In conclusion, this strategy has been an opportunity for pharmacists to have a more important and recognized role in the healthcare team and Brazilian public health system. © 2015, Colegio de Farmaceuticos de la Provincia de Buenos Aires.
