FIGURE 1. Aloe verdoorniae. A. First flowering of a young plant. Note the inflorescence branching from about the middle. B. Rosette. Note the purplish blue adaxial leaf surface and haphazardly scattered maculations. C. Plant with a glaucous green adaxial leaf surface. D. A rare, highly spotted variant. The rosette divided into two after it was damaged, likely by grazing herbivores. All photographs taken by Gideon F. Smith.
