Description

Cypridopsis vidua (O.F. Müller 1776) Brady 1868

Cypridopsis vidua — Bold 1964: 11, table II; C. vidua — Martens & Behen 1994: 26.

Synonyms: Cypris vidua O.F. M̧ller 1776; a full list of synonyms can be reviewed in Meisch et al. (2019).

Type locality: surroundings of Copenhagen, Denmark (55º40’ N, 12º33’ E). No known repository for the material.

In Venezuela: at the following locality according to Bold (1964): ARAGUA and CARABOBO states—no details of location, Lago de Valencia (GN 10º10’46” N, 67º43’52” W).

Remarks: the species has a cosmopolitan distribution (Meisch et al. 2019). Its geographical distribution in the Neotropics includes Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, the Caribbean Islands, and Venezuela (Martens & Behen 1994). The record for Venezuela comes from material recovered from recent sediments (Bold 1964). Broodbakker (1983d) records C. aff. vidua as an accompanying fauna of Pseudocandona geratsi.
