1. Hind basitarsus yellow, concolorous with following tarsomeres; pedicel (Figs 1303, 1312, 1317, 1318) with a dorsal margin distinctly produced in lateral view [best seen on slide-mounted specimen]; frontovertex, above transfacial carina, with more than 20 conspicuous setae, excluding those along eye margin................... 2

- Hind basitarsus dark brown, contrasting with following tarsomeres that are yellow or pale orange; pedicel (Fig 1323, 1331, 1336) with dorsal margin not distinctly produced in lateral view [best seen on slide-mounted specimen]; frontovertex above transfacial carina with fewer than 15 setae, excluding those along eye margin....................................................................................................................4

2 (1) Both mesoscutum and scutellum with a strong metallic dark green and blue-green sheen; sculpture on lateral one-third or so of scutellum very shallow and superficial, quite smooth and very shiny, contrasting strongly with much deeper sculpture on mesoscutum.................................................................. hyperion sp.nov.
