Advancing HIVE-4-MAT's Capacity to Leverage Multiple Vocabularies
Description
HIVE (Helping Interdisciplinary Vocabulary Engineering) is a linked-data, automatic indexing application. HIVE dynamically integrates vocabularies and expedites semantic tagging of data and other digital resources. A HIVE innovation called HIVE-4-MAT was created to improve the interoperability and usability of material science vocabularies. HIVE-4-MAT contains over 30 vocabularies covering material science, its subdisciplines, and related fields such as chemistry. The application allows for many different user interactions which include exploring a vocabulary in the user interface, searching the vocabularies for any shared terms, and using a keyword extraction algorithm to search articles and find related keywords belonging to one or more of the vocabularies. Our presentation will present these functionalities, highlight recent algorithm speed and accuracy improvements, and share future development ideas.
