Description

This study explores the incorporation of quality labels into consent forms to enhance informed consent in citizen science for healthcare. A literature review and analysis of privacy themes in consent forms were conducted using Atlas.ti as a basis for the labels.

Three labels are proposed: a nutrition score-based label, a concise summary label, and a grading scheme for privacy assessment. The findings suggest that quality labels can improve transparency, clarity, and privacy protection. These labels provide standardized ways to engage participants in consent forms, enabling participants to make informed decisions. Implementation of quality labels in citizen science can promote a more ethical and trustworthy environment for healthcare-related research.

Further research is needed to validate the effectiveness and acceptance of these labels. The study contributes to improving informed consent practices in citizen science for healthcare.
