Description
To help end the replication crisis and instill confidence in our scientific literature, we introduce a new process for evaluating scientific manuscripts, termed "peer replication," in which referees independently reproduce key experiments of a manuscript. Replicated findings would be reported in citable "Peer Replication Reports" published alongside the original paper. Peer replication could be used as an augmentation or alternative to peer review and become a higher tier of publication. We discuss some possible configurations and practical aspects of adding peer replication to the current publishing environment.
