SOCIAL REPRESENTATION OF MASCULINE BEAUTY

Abstract

The beauty, in a general sense, is a very broad concept related to admiration and pleasure, sensations perceived differently at the individual level and similar, collectively at the social level being influenced by the social environment and the process of internalizing social values and norms. If we consider beauty from the gender perspective, then it is often associated with women – "the beautiful gender", men have other qualities valued socially according to stereotypes. Accordingly, the masculine beauty is more often associated with athletic physical appearance ("muscular body"), especially in the media space and social platforms, and including also the "masculine" qualities such as strength, power, firmness, self-confidence, initiative, money, business, high social status. The purpose of this study is to establish the fusion of attitudes, perceptions, thoughts of the people participating in the research, manifested through social representations, namely the social representation of masculine beauty.

Rezumat 

Frumusețea, în sens general, este un concept foarte larg legat de admirație și plăcere, senzații percepute diferit la nivel individual și similare, colectiv la nivel social fiind influențate de mediul social și de procesul de interiorizare a valorilor și normelor sociale. Dacă luăm în considerare frumusețea din perspectiva de sex, atunci aceasta este adesea asociată cu femeile – "sexul frumos", bărbații au alte calități apreciate social după stereotipuri. Respectiv, frumusețea masculină este mai des asociată cu aspectul fizic atletic ("corp muscular"), în special în spațiul media și platformele sociale, incluzând și calități "masculin" precum forța, puterea, fermitatea, încrederea în sine, inițiativa. , bani, afaceri, statut social ridicat. Scopul acestui studiu este de a stabili totalitatea atitudinilor, percepțiilor, gândurilor persoanelor care participă la cercetare, manifestate prin reprezentări sociale, respectiv reprezentarea socială a frumuseții masculine.
