PALESTINIAN STUDENT ABROAD: THE EXPERIENCE OF ADAPTATION
Authors/Creators
Description
The article examines how Palestinian students pursuing higher education abroad adapt to the socio-cultural environment in the host country. As an example, the author analyzes the experience of students who study at universities in the Tambov region (Russia). The research conducted by a group of Tambov scholars shows that Palestinian students master the algorithm of the educational process the fastest. Their cultural adaptation to Russian realities is more difficult. It involves overcoming various social, moral, religious and linguistic barriers. In general, the Russian socio-cultural environment is perceived by Palestinian students mainly as "friendly", which allows them to preserve their ethnic identity.
