Pre-Release amp-data v0.7.0

We are thrilled to announce the release of v0.7.0 of the Auden Musulin Papers amp-data repository. This release includes new materials as well as an all-new TEI-conformant schema for correspondence documents.

1 Materials

v0.7.0 brings important new documents to the Auden Musulin Papers scholarly digital edition. These include the recently rediscovered first letter sent by W. H. Auden to Stella Musulin during his Austrian period as well as the only preserved letter written by Stella Musulin to Auden.

2 Correspondence Schema

am.odd implements a fully TEI-conformant data model of correspondence items (including all letters, but, at present, excluding aerograms, telegrams, and postcards), which allows a semantically expressive modeling of items with regard to both (text-focused) genre-specific text structure and (document-focused) material aspects (such as typographic spaces and writing technologies).

We are particularly thankful to the TEI Correspondence SIG, Stefan Dumont, correspSearch, andStephan Kurz for their feedback and continuous support, especially with regard to redesigning correspDesc, which now enables tracking sent items through the Austrian, German, UK, and US postal systems in the period 1959-1973. Please find more specific information in the markup documentation.

The editorial research process was furthermore critically assisted by Österreichische Post, Royal Mail, British Postmark Society, and the US Post Mark Collectors Club.

3 Future Web-App Implementation

These data (including future additions) will be published in a profoundly reworked pre-release v0.5.0 of the AMP web app in mid-December 2023.
