Preprints in the life sciences (talks at EPFL for #oset2017 and #osip2017)
Description
Preprints, or manuscripts distributed ahead of the completion of journal-organized peer review, can reduce the lag time between completion of a scientific paper and its exposure to the broader scientific community. The 15 minute talk (for https://library.epfl.ch/oset2017) provides a brief overview of the recent developments surrounding preprints in the life sciences and touches on three common concerns with their usage. The 60 minute talk (for https://osip2017.epfl.ch/) describes additional concerns and also provides more practical information on finding and discussing preprints.
