The Laboratory Approach to Inherited and Acquired Coagulation Factor Deficiencies

Besides the long recognized hemophilias ,there are many other factor deficiencies. Some are also inherited, but others are acquired from both immune and nonimmune etiologies. Understanding the optimal laboratory approach to evaluating factor deficiency will both aid clinicians in obtaining a prompt diagnosis and laboratorians in avoiding pitfalls in coagulation testing.
