Abstracts of the 16th International Workshop on Opportunistic Protists (16th IWOP)

The International Workshops on Opportunistic Protists (IWOP) meeting was held at the CHUV Hospital of Lausanne, Switzerland, in August 2023. It was part of series that is dedicated to the opportunistic microorganisms causing disease in immunocompromised individuals. The opportunistic organisms included Pneumocystis and Microsporidia. The topics covered included genetics, comparative genomics, transcriptomics, host-parasite interaction, adaptation, evolution, metabolism, epidemiology, models of infection, as well as therapeutic and diagnostic approaches.
