PROTÓTIPO HUET: AUTOMAÇÃO RESIDENCIAL UTILIZANDO LIBRAS
- 1. Instituto Federal de Minas Gerais
Description
This paper describes a home automation prototype based on the Internet of Things, which stands out for its ability to recognize Libras signs to trigger devices. The prototype is named Huet after Ernest Huet, a French educator who encouraged deaf students in Brazil to learn sign language. The prototype is in its initial stages and consists of a central node (Raspberry Pi 4) responsible for processing images captured by various ESP32-CAM microcontrolled platforms distributed around the home. When it detects a pre-programmed Libras signal, the central node sends a message via WiFi to another microcontroller, which activates or deactivates a relay, making it possible to turn on or off equipment such as lamps or fans. The results demonstrate the general operation of the Huet prototype using a parallel switch, analyzing the time and accuracy of signal identification. In addition, this work contributes to the deaf community by developing technology that helps overcome communication barriers between this community and society.
