Description
Abstract
The synthesis of silica from rice husk ash, sugarcane bagasse ash, and coal ash is important for the manufacturing of cement-based materials due to environmental concerns. Silica is a key ingredient in cement and concrete production, as it enhances the strength, durability, and resistance to corrosion of these materials. However, traditional sources of silica, such as sand, are becoming scarce and are associated with environmental concerns related to extraction, transportation, and disposal. This critical literature review explores the utilization of geopolymer as a promising alternative for treating extracted silica from rice husk and other biomass ash. The objective is to analyze and evaluate existing research studies to assess the viability and potential benefits of geopolymerization in the context of waste valorization. The review investigates the geopolymer synthesis process, properties, and applications, focusing on the treatment of extracted silica from rice husk and other biomass ash. The findings reveal the significant potential of geopolymer technology as a sustainable solution for the utilization of waste materials and the production of value-added products.
