How is the nociceptive withdrawal reflex influenced by increasing doses of propofol in pigs?

  • 1. University of Bern, Vetsuisse Faculty

Description

The files contain the nocicpetive withdrawal reflex thresholds for each single pig and for each single day.
They have been recorded continuously (for more details see main text) from the beginning to the end of the experiment.

Each Excel file is dedicated to one pig. In each Excel file, there are 3 worksheets that refer to each experimental day.
All the parameters recorded from the Dolosys have been reported (data are presented as downloaded from the device), namely:

stimulus_no date time stimulus_intensity [mA] threshold [mA] imp_stim [ohm] imp_emg_red [ohm] imp_emg_black [ohm] imp_emg_white [ohm] noise_level threshold_reliability scoring_value scoring_cutoff_value noise_max [uV] noise_mean [uV] noise_sd [uV] reflex_max [uV] reflex_mean [uV] reflex_sd [uV] NRS noise_start [ms] noise_end [ms] reflex_start [ms] reflex_end [ms] measured_current [mA] measured_voltage [V]

Notes

A commercial device (PainTracker; Dolosys GmbH, Germany) was used to evaluate the nociceptive withdrawal reflex thresholds in pigs receiving increasing dosages of propofol. Specifically, two surface electrodes were placed over the common dorsal digital nerve for transcutaneous electrical stimulation, and three surface electrodes were placed over the tibialis cranialis muscle on the same limb for the recording of electromyographic (EMG) activity. The thresholds were recorded continuously for the whole duration of the experiment.
