WORK-FAMILY INTERFACE FOR RURAL WORKERS: A QUALITATIVE STUDY
Description
The aim of this study was to understand the perceived relationship between work and family for women rural family workers in a municipality in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. This is a qualitative study in which the participants answered a questionnaire with sociodemographic data and an interview with a semi-structured script. The data obtained was subjected to content analysis. The results showed that, in the participants' perception, families develop their own organization and the distribution of activities involves all their members, although the sexual division of tasks between men and women remains. The integration of the two areas - work and family - in the lives of working women was clear, as they live in the workplace and work with their families, so every moment is considered appropriate for discussing work-related issues. The study provided a greater understanding of living and working conditions in the rural context, helping to give visibility to this little-studied reality. In addition, it provides information on how psychology can act in the search for strategies to reconcile and balance the work-family interface in this context.
