Description
New invasion of an Asian clam in the Iberian Peninsula: Corbicula insularis Prime, 1867 in the Llobregat Delta (Barcelona).— The Llobregat Delta is among the most important wetlands in Catalonia. It has a highly diverse malacofauna, which is however endangered due to the proximity to the Barcelona urban area and its encirclement by big infrastructures. After the recent finding of Sinanodonta woodiana, in this paper the presence of Corbicula insularis is reported, with well established populations in this natural reserve. It is the first European river basin where an invasive species of the genus Corbicula is described in absence of Corbicula fluminea.
