Green Synthesis of Chitosan and Cinnamaldehyde Schiff Base and it's Diversified Biological Application

Description

Chitosan is a biopolymer extracted from the
shell chitin of crustaceans with special characteristics
such as biocompatibility, biodegradability, and
antibacterial activity. Schiff bases are compounds that

combine an imine or azomethine group with a carbon-
nitrogen double bond to form an organic molecule.

Cinnamaldehyde Schiff bases are commonly employed as
flavouring ingredients and can kill bacteria, fungi, and
viruses. Metal complexes of chitosan and Schiff bases are
synthesised by reacting the biopolymer or Schiff base
with the metal ion in an appropriate solvent. Metal
complexes have different characteristics depending on the
metal ion, the ligand, and the production technique.
