Computing by Collapsing... or, measurement-based quantum computing and the stunning efficiency of graphical calculi
Description
Slides for a 1h talk presented in a Cosmic Conversations (CC) colloquium session in 2022 at Stellenbosch University. The full talk was recorded and is available for viewing on YouTube at https://youtu.be/f9SSF8DNbMw. The talk is aimed at undergraduate level, and introduces the concepts of measurement-based quantum computing (MBQC) and the ZX-calculus. The talk largely follows a paper by Kissinger and van de Wetering (2019) [1], but expands a bit on the presentation given therein. The content is purely expository, and does not constitute research.
