Il quartiere di San Lorenzo e le tracce della Montessori | San Lorenzo District and Montessori's traces

Creators

Description

As we know, Montessori began her extraordinary pedagogical adventure in the San Lorenzo district of Rome. After so many decades, what traces are left in the memory of the place? Is there awareness of the action carried out there by Montessori and possibly the desire to connect one's work with hers in the consciousness of cultural operators, associations, groups and individuals? From these questions, born in 2020 during the lessons of the academic course Experimentalism, didactic innovation and Montessori pedagogy  at Roma Tre University, the research that we present here arose. To answer them, a laboratory was set up, freely chosen by the students, alongside the institutional course. The project fits into the epistemological and methodological framework outlined by the ACL® (Action Community Learning) model, elaborated by the writer, during a series of community pedagogy researches. The Laboratory, constituting the group of participants in a research community, conducts research work in the field starting from the narratives of the associations and informal groups operating in the socio-educational and cultural context in the district of San Lorenzo. The project is part of an effort aimed at producing didactic innovation in the university environment, closely linking training and research, and at the same time proposes to identify a possible model of dialogue with the territory, in the perspective of the institution's third mission and of the community engagement.
