Description

The data supporting the findings of the article "Role of Atmospheric and Oceanographic Variability on Surface Marine Heatwaves in the Northern Humboldt Current System" is available in the form of modeled sea surface temperature data in NetCDF format. The dataset includes daily recordings for each of the four model simulations performed in the sensitivity experiment. These simulations were designed to explore the impact of atmospheric and oceanographic variability on surface marine heatwaves within the Northern Humboldt Current System.

Notes

The reader is encouraged to refer to the article titled "Role of Atmospheric and Oceanographic Variability on Surface Marine Heatwaves in the Northern Humboldt Current System" to gain a comprehensive understanding of the methodology employed in this study. The article provides detailed information about the hydrodynamic model simulations, sensitivity analysis, and data analysis techniques used to investigate the role of atmospheric and oceanographic variability in surface marine heatwaves within the Northern Humboldt Current System. The authors acknowledge the financial support of the Project Concytec - World Bank "Characterization and forecast of extreme events in the Peruvian sea using an operational system of oceanic information", through its executing unit Fondo Nacional de Desarrollo Cientı́fico, Tecnológico y de Innovación Tecnológica (Fondecyt). This work is a contribution to the cooperative agreement between the Instituto del Mar del Perú (IMARPE) and the Institut de Recherche pour le Developpement (IRD) through the IRD international network GDRI DEXICOTROP.
