TYPE SPECIES. — Palaeophylolestes distinctus n. sp.; monotypic genus.
ETYMOLOGY. — After the name of a closely-related genus, namely Phylolestes, associated with the prefix ‘Palaeo-’, referring to the Palaeocene age of the type-species; gender masculine.
DIAGNOSIS. — As for the type species.
