Los avatares del convento de agustinas recoletas de Gijón: 1936-1937
Description
This article focuses on analyzing and reconstructing the evolution of the convent of Augustinian of Gijón during the Civil War in Spain, from the control of the city from the Republican side (21 August 1936) to the capture of the city by the rebellious side or national (20 October 1937), a total of nearly 15 months, based on the transcript of an unpublished report that sent the Augustinian community of mothers of Gijón in May 1941 the Provincial Council of Oviedo, to report all damages suffered their convent. It is further intended that this article will serve as a new contribution to the knowledge of the history of the Order of Saint Augustine in Asturias and Gijón community.
