Theorizing Nation-state-building Myths as an Explaining Factor
Description
Based on a critical analysis of explanatory frameworks, the article aims to identify
theoretical models treating nation-state-building myths as an explaining factor.
In doing so, it reveals an explanatory potential of this theoretical category and
facilitates the selection of political myths as a theoretical grounding of empirical
analysis. It shows the variety of possible ways of theorising political myths.
Moreover, it aims to determine their correctness and applicability to empirical
studies. The analyses contribute to studies on myths by exposing the strengths
and limitations of selected explanatory models. Finally, they uncover possible
scopes and directions for developing the current models.
