Description
The success of vaccine development and distribution has high-lighted the importance of immunology as a practical and rele-vant science. The human immune system is a complex system made up of different cells, tissues, and organs. However, studying immunology can be challenging for college students as it requires them to engage with new vocabulary and advanced biological concepts. Due to this, many students find it difficult to integrate the new material with their prior knowledge and lose interest in the subject when taught through a traditional didactic approach, which can decrease their engagement in the class. Lack of engagement and misinterpretation of instructions are a few of the reasons for students to develop alternate conceptions. There are different approaches in which a teacher can look for students lack of understanding. However, Teachers fail to address alternate conceptions which can go unnoticed. Analogical reasoning is one of the method to understand students alternate conceptions. Along with the reasoning if we have log data of studetns interaction before reasoning will provide information which can be used to model students behaviour and in future scaffold their learning. This study proposes the development of a technology-enhanced learning environment based on the theories of analogical reasoning through which learners' interaction patterns can be studied with the help of different data sets.
